Cosmetic Photographs
A critical issue in judging a photograph's accuracy in its portrayal
of results is the skill and honesty of the photographer. The photograph,
ideally, should be taken under the same lighting conditions and camera
settings and show adequate detail. The flash settings should be the
same, as a hard direct flash on a before or after photo always flattens
the shadows of skin folds and bags giving a false impression of
improvement. The angles and position of the eyes, head, and neck should
be about the same to facilitate a fair comparison of the before and
after shots. Makeup always make a feminine face look better so close
scrutiny of the underlying structural changes is important. Lastly, any
photo editing of digital photos, while possible, would be totally
dishonest. Other than cropping a photo to show greater close-up detail,
none of my photographs have been digitally edited or retouched. Some of
my photos should have had the hair pulled back more and a few others
were not ideal, but are unintentional results. Some patients have had
other procedures done in addition to the labeled caption. ALL
