What is Ragweed and how do I know if I am allergic to it?
Updated: Aug 13, 2018
We all know the symptoms. Sneezing, coughing, and itchy eyes.
But the answer to what might be causing your allergies could be right in your backyard.
A popular plant that blooms in the Summer is called Ragweed.
Ragweed is a member of the daisy family. It has yellow flowers that produce a vast amount of pollen.
It grows all over the United States and is a common problem for allergy sufferers.
Ragweed grows from August to November and normally ends with the first frost.
According to Doctor Robert Coltharp, there are a few signs to look out for to determine if Ragweed is the cause for your allergies.
“Typically if symptoms of your allergies, especially itchy eyes and nasal drainage, worsen this time of year when outside; then ragweed and other weed and grass allergens are the problem,” said Dr. Coltharp.
Dr. Coltharp says if these symptoms apply to you to make an appointment with ENT Facial Plastic Surgery today.
“An Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist can assist in making things better by changing or augmenting your medical regimen for allergies. In some cases, we may advise allergy testing and specific allergy immunotherapy or “allergy shots” to get better control of the symptoms,” said Dr. Coltharp
